Artist Statement

Identities are malleable. Some are better at editing themselves to fit a given situation. With my art, I’m connected back to feelings on the human condition of frailty. “Timekeepers” isn’t just about my grandparents as they move inexorably towards the end of life as anonymous participants. Their lack of physical faculties affect more than their sense of agency.  I’m drawn to the conditions where loneliness and solitude can still vibrate in this place in life. Through this exploration, I’m learning  what it feels like to be subsumed, defined by our environments. Over time, the objective is less about capturing the impact of aging; rather, it’s about the silence percolating the unseen layers of this narrative.
